ABASA - The Association for the Advancement of Black Accountants of Southern Africa
ABASA was established in 1985 to promote interests of black men and women engaged in the accounting profession. It is committed and dedicated in this pursuit, and is driven by the need to ensure that every black accountant and aspiring accountant is able to realise his/her full potential and aspirations.

Our objectives
To promote adult education, vocational training and technical education in the accounting profession; and to establish a special fund in the Republic of South Africa dedicated to receiving donations to be used exclusively for such educational or training purposes and to establish, control and administer educational trust funds to assist Black students and trainees in the pursuance of their studies within the accounting profession.
To facilitate and encourage the entry of Blacks into the accounting profession to promote their academic and professional excellence.
To assist Blacks in obtaining access to accounting education and employment opportunities that will enable them to achieve their career aspirations and realise their full potential.
To encourage the development of committed and dedicated accounting professionals, managers, and public administrators; and enhance their capabilities and skills to serve an increasingly complex business environment.
To recognise and respond
To establish contact, foster and maintain cooperative and cordial relations with local, regional and international institutions/organisations engaged in the accounting profession.
To create awareness of the accounting profession among high school students and those at tertiary institutions.
To identify and work for the removal of the conditions which are detrimental to the professional well-being of black accountants.
To investigate and deal with cases where members are professionally aggrieved and without further recourse in commerce and industry, public practice and the public sector.
To create awareness of the work, objectives and ideals of the Association and the accounting profession in the black community.
